Hello and welcome

Q. So what is the idea for this blog?

The idea for this blog is to share interesting or useful information with YOU in the hope of initiating a dialogue and/or providing some food for thought or inspiration.

The topics will likely relate to my attempts to chronicle the moments - focusing on the process and being more present (see more about these below).

This blog is very much work in progress and no doubt will take a life of its own. In the meantime, please do feel free to join in the discussions. I am looking forward to learning from you and for us to inspire and encourage each other and to make our moments matter.

The concept of ‘focusing on the process’

GroundHog Day

The 1993 film is such a favourite - It illustrated to me (again and again) that there is no shortcut to achieving your goals. Instead, we would have to focus on what we do daily in order to reap the outcome(s) we desire, and even then, the result(s) may be dictated by external factors. Like completing a marathon, the real joy is in completing the distance on the final day AND doing all the preparatory leg work regardless of weather conditions. It is futile to obsess about D-day beforehand and not revel in the training.

Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

This 2004 book, by Eckhart Tolle, truly provided me with an aha insight on contentment. Our minds are not ourselves! They can be observed and it is when they dwell in the past or the future that we start feeling unsettled. Ergo, we need to consciously focus our attention on the present moment. Yes, even when we are attending to the laundry. How powerful! Garth of Wayne’s World had a point when he said “Live in the Now!”.
