Back from the holidays to daily life
Resuming our daily routines at our new-ish home country.
Our holidays in Malaysia were, to be honest, bittersweet. Being around the beloved family and friends was fun. Making adjustments and conforming to certain expectations, not so much, saying goodbye to elderly relatives…tough.
We overcame jet lag and amnesia (where did we store the bath toys/plates/random item again?) and for Jaime, terror, to start the new academic year. Courageous Jaime - first year yet, this time in a Swiss-German school amid strangers (vs familiar people in a Dutch Montessori). Isabel, kicking her heels, attempting to avoid being left behind at the daycare (despite evidently enjoying being there, asking me to “please come much later Mama, not now!” whenever I appear to bring her home).
Me? I am back to contemplating the meaning of life and world domination. Same but different. Maybe because I’m feeling recalibrated having renewed my enthusiasm for things I choose to have in my life here, especially relating to my routines. My morning ones are currently my favourite. They include writing my morning pages, meditating to this app or another, followed by a cup of tea and emptying the dishwasher.
