A magical weekend in Tuscany - must return soon!
We spent last weekend in Tuscany, celebrating the marriage of a dear friend to her beloved beau ❤.
Weddings are amazing to me. The unabashed declaration of love and excitement to share the future etc., I also adore Toscana (it is where Emilio and I chose to spend time with our best friends and family after our nuptial celebrations nine years ago). The two factors combined create a magical weekend.
The bride and groom were looking gorgeous and in love. Both the ceremony (which was filled with heartfelt and amusing vows and speeches) and the party were held at the fairy tale venue of Castello La Leccia. The table setting was stunning, filled with flowers and the food and wine were as expected, sumptuous.
We stayed at the nearby Hotel Villa Casalecchi, which offered not only breathtaking views of the Tuscan landscape but also the most charming host.
Being on a tight schedule, we didn’t have much time to spare to wander around the countryside or do any of these awesome listed things. We did, however, end up on an impromptu trip. We explored the medieval streets of Siena (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and paid homage to the Piazza del Campo where the famous Palio di Siena occurs twice per annum and the structure that is Palazzo Pubblico. The silver lining/result of having to drive to the nearest commercial Centre to create a new makeup pouch having lost mine at Zurich airport.
There is just something about the food and wine and even sunlight in Toscana. We are not that far away from this paradise and plan to return soon.
